Day 7 to 9 - finishing off the program

It has been a few days since I updated this due to being so so busy trying to fit everything into the last few days here. Most of the days have been the same with taking the shakes and supplements, yoga in the morning, daily massages and ultrazonic zapper sessions.

My weigh ins for the last three days have been as follows:
17/10 - 61.7kg blood pressure 107/91
18/10 - 61.9kg blood pressure 112/70
19/10 - 62.0kg blood pressure 110/73

Yes that is right, I have been putting on weight even thou I have not been eating! Saying that I believe that my body is retaining water now at a healthy rate and I have noticed that certain 'fatty' areas are actually less fatty. Pookie made the comment last night that my face was looking much thinner.

I have also had a few optional therapy sessions. On Monday I met with Tim Robins (http://www.timrobins.net/) and undertook a EFT (emotional freedom technique) session. The principal of this technique is to get in contact with your unconscious mind, normally emotions relating to certain events etc and then using a tapping technique to remove them, or shift them in your body. I probably haven't put that to justice so if you are interested in it check out his website. I certainly found the session interesting in a positive way. I don't think my issues have miraculously disappeared however I do feel a little more at ease about them. It is also a practice that I think you need to have repeated sessions and due to time constraints this was unfortunately not an option for me. A number of the guests here have used him and raved about him and one in particular I must admit does seem much happier all round after her session.

The other therapy session I had was Chi Nei Tsang which is a internal organ massage. It looks at and releases congestion and blocked energy and assists with eliminating toxins, It is recommended for clients who suffer any discomfort in the tummy (which I certainly did with my cramping). I had colema afterwards and the bodywork certainly spoke by itself. I felt something shift in my colon during the treatment from the right side to the left. Yes I still had some discomfort and pain but what I expelled during the colema was the same mass that I expelled the day that was the turning point for me and my cramps. I believe that it had loosened the remaining 'issues' (if you like) which did lead to more cramping however nothing like how it was in the beginning.

Now talking about colemas, I had this mass come out after the session last night but what come out during this mornings session is what now has me fascinated with my own poo! Again saving you the details but I felt like I had actually gotten somewhere, I was now getting rid of something that had been in my colon for far too long. Remembering if you will that I have not eaten at this point for almost 8 days yet the amount that still gets removed from your body is incredible. Bruce said that on day 13 of his program he had a huge amount all of a sudden break loose and expel. I do understand also there is alot of sceptics out there about this process and say that it is like that because of what they give you to eat and your supplements etc, well I can tell you that what came out of my body this morning, could not have been made by any of those things in seven days. I am so much of a believer in colemas now I have actually asked to extend my program and do two more tomorrow! And can't wait to see what they deliver.

I have also had a wrap, a facial, a manicure and a pedicure. My skin is glowing and I am feeling very very relaxed.

Monday night a couple of us got our coconuts and had a movie night and last night I was talked into heading to Patong. What a strange place that is when you aren't drinking. The ladyboys were out in force. Some of the people were either not detoxing (such as Pookie and Anne who work here) and Bruce had just finished. Some were drinking while others were sipping on juice. I can report that as HARD as it was I resisted temptation and kept ordering water even thou I think I might of stolen a cold lemonade off a child had I been given the change. To make matters worse they were handing out free iceblocks and popcorn in one place and being a Tuesday night it was ladies night so each place we went to you were given a free drink which I reluctantly handed over to those people drinking. 1am home for bed is far too late when you are a) on a detox and b) have yoga at 7.30am the next morning.

Yesterday I also made a trip to the big buddah which is currently being built on the highest point here. It is absolutely huge and the OH&S that the workers were using was something for sore eyes. It was incredibly hot due to the sun beaming down but an amazing view that photos will never be able to provide justice.

All in all I am feeling absolutley fantastic. I am so much more positive about... well everything. I believe my body has reacted really well to everything and has helped guide me through this journey. I have also learnt alot about myself form simple things like.... ah that noise in my tummy is gas in my colon to when I hear about a certain subject I tense up. I am definitely more in tune with my body and have learnt alot about how I can improve and continue to detox. I will certainly be leaving here on a positive note but more on that tomorrow as it is time for bed!

I am off to dream about the papaya that I get for breakfast, yes food, although secretly I think I would prefer a big plate of pad thai.

Day 6 - forth day of fasting

Today's routine was much the same as the last few days although my afternoon was where all my appointments were. I weighed in at 61.8kg with blood pressure of 105/76. The card I picked today was 'believe' which focused on loving oneself and believing in oneself. It's funny you always think these cards are a bit of a joke but when I look at the other cards people have chosen my card is always the best fitting to me on that day.

At 2pm I went to the Chalong Temple and realised how much strength I had loss trying to climb three flights of stairs to the top of one of the temples. Outside the main temple they were letting off fireworks inside this huge chimney which mad a deafening sound. The markets there certainly held many temptations and as we walked past a lady she yelled at us...'ice cream?' if only.

Today I am surprised that I do not feel hungry, four days and no food I thought I would be curled up in a ball somewhere passing out but from about 4pm it was like my body had rebooted and I found my mind clearer than it has been for the last few days. Emotionally I am still a little sensitive but everyone here is very supportive of this as I think we are all feeling that way.

For something different I had a body scrub, I have never had one before and it was an interesting experience and my skin feels much better for it.

The good news for today is that this mornings colema was much better with only very very mild cramping and as my afternoon colema was after the scrub, hour and a half massage and a steam room I didn't have any cramping whatsoever only a little discomfort. Maybe whatever it was has finally left the building and I can be like everyone else here that seem to do them without fuss.

Having an early night tonight as my body is a little sore from the yoga and massages and want to get a good night sleep ready to see what day five will bring me. I will try to put some more photos up tomorrow.

Day 5 - third day of fasting

Yesterday was such a busy and an emotional draining day that I am only writing this the morning after.

I woke up at 5am which is apparently normal while detoxing, you body goes to bed earlier and wakes up earlier. I felt the freshest I had been and headed to the wellness centre for the first shake and cider tea for the day.

I have since found out what is in these shakes it is made up of Magnesium Oxide and Bentonite clay which is suppose to help with binding, liquifying and eliminating toxins.

I was able to have a good chat with Sharon (one of the other directors here) about the cramping I was having. She was extremely helpful and showed me some massage techniques to use and also said to use the basket provided to see what was coming out during the colemas.

Off to yoga and felt the most energised I have since being here, I almost felt like I could go for a run (and I don't run). Down the hatch with the first eight supplements, zeolites and coloidal silver. Weight came in at 62.2kgs and blood pressure was at 115/86.

Then it was off for the morning colema just after 9am. I took some of Sharon's advice and slowed the whole process down taking in half a litre then waiting while massaging my colon using pressure points. Each time to expel the liquid took up to 10 minutes however the cramps were down to like mild period or constipation cramps. I stopped after 8 litres as I felt my body had done enough. I'm just going to say that when I checked the basket I was amazed! This process took my all the way till 11am so I missed my next shake and cider drink but had the daily coconut juice instead.

I then had an appointment with Sharon for a health and healing assessment which went through an online form I had completed prior to arriving. Sharon said to me it has been a long time since I have seen eyes with pupils that big, thinking this was a compliment, only to finish with, it is usually a sign of a very stressed person. This assessment went for an hour and most of it far too personal to write on a blog but we did discuss foods and diet and I learnt that it is possible that I have digestive problems (which is no suprise) and was told to use things like coconut oil rather than other oils (butter and olive oil is still ok). It also sounded like I had a build up of mucus in my digestive track and that it could be related to a yeast infection that I may not have any symptoms but still there. I felt that all this was true and looked forward to learning more.

I had booked in a appointment with Tim Robbins who does EFT (Emotional Freedom techniques) who was highly recommended by the other guests and another Tim (female) who specialises in massaging the organs. I am hoping that whatever blockages I have can be moved, untwisted and fixed!

12pm was the ultrazonic zapper followed by that great time of the day, massage. Inbetween I also had my next shake and my next lot of supplements.

Then it was time for the afternoon Colema.... garlic, and I haven't mentioned how strong this smells. Imagine 100 cloves in a bucket of warm water. It is insane. Now this is the time where my body starts to feel it's worse and I only partake in this for 3 litres and the cramps are a litte worse then this mornings. For up to 2 hours after I was still feeling discomfort from the cramps, but it is more like your muscles are so tired or that you have used different muscles for the first time.

I lay down for an hour took my next lot of supplements then headed over to get my vege broth and Acai Berry drink. It was so lovely and gave me that bit of energy I needed as we headed to the Phuket Saturday night market. I could smell food everywhere and my tummy was rumbling wanting it but I stayed strong and told myself that the need for food was emotional and didn't need it.

After bringing a full bag of shopping back to the room I had a apple vinegar cider and probiotic and headed to bed for a very very deep sleep.

They say that day 3 is the worse, or the turning point in the program. I found that I was very very emotional and it was hard to get any of that positive energy flowing in the afternoon. Now it is 7am so I must get up and start day four and a busy day four I think it will be!

Day 4 - Second day of fasting

Now the first thing to cover is that there was no frogs last night which allowed me to sleep pretty good except for the three toilet breaks in the mosquito infested outside bathroom.

I was hoping today wasn't going to be as busy as the last day and thankful to find they had scheduled my appointments all together so I had plenty of time in the afternoon to do what I wished.

As normal, 7am headed over to the wellness centre for the first clay shake for the day. I think they are actually getting worse even with a small bit of lime squeezed in. Once again I thoroughly enjoyed the apple cider and honey tea.

By 7.30am it was very hot, I would guess already 30 degrees and we headed over to the beach for yoga. I managed to stay in the shade although that didn't stop me from sweating. After yoga we sat around 'the circle' sipping on ginger tea and once again reflected on the previous day and what we wanted to achieve today. My goal for the day was to feel as good and positive as I did right then at the end of the day. We drew the cards, this time I got 'beauty' which talked about how I was beautiful on the inside and out so I'll take that.

Once back at the wellness centre I took the first lot of 8 x supplements, took my shot of zeolite and started drinking my coloidal silver. Blood pressure was taken and was reading normal at 119/85 and weight, which I was most surprised about 62.8kgs. I had lost 2.1kgs in 2 days when I thought I would actually be weighing more due to all the water retention I though I must be experiencing. By now it was already time for the colema which I was dreading after yesterday but thinking positively and that maybe whatever was causing the cramps had gone I headed off to room 'I'. It kind of sounds like a jail cell doesn't it?

Morning colemas are always coffee and apple cider vinegar and once again I started the process, 2 litres in the cramps started. This time I put some cocount oil on to my stomach to try to massage it. I thought to myself that this wasn't as bad as yesterday and just to work through it.

Before I knew it I was down 6 litres and although was experiencing cramps they were more like constipation cramps than labour pains. I soldiered on until the very end and finished in record time of an hour.

At 10.30am I was to have another shake and cider tea but opted to miss it and head straight for a coconut juice. I'm not really a fan of coconut juice but it is certainly growing on me. The next lot of supplements were taken at 11.30am.

The ultrazonic zapper appointment was at 12pm where I lay down on the couch letting the machine do its work while I watched a very bias dvd called food matters. It looks at how doctors don't prescribe vitamins and aren't trained in nutrition, I am sure there is lots of truth in their argument but it was certainly presented in a way that everyone should be a vegetarian and have high dosages of vitamins, not the low dosages that we currently indulge in. As later pointed out by one of the guests here, what about Eskimos? their diet is solely animal based and they are some of the most healthiest people on the planet. Anyway, it is an interesting watch and make up your own mind. What I took out of it was that I should be more concerned about where my food comes from, make sure I buy organic and things that haven't been snapped frozen for up to a year and pasted in wax to look pretty.

Then my favourite time of the day, massage time. I was lucky enough to get Fon again who did my massage the first time. Straight away I opted for the oil massage and it was just as good as the first time. She also did a massage on my organs which I was hoping would help whatever cramping I was feeling.

I had two hours to kill and decided just to head back to my room and relax and then I went for a small walk around the resort. During this time I also took the next lot of supplements. 4pm came and it was garlic colema time.

Firstly I had my clay shake and cider tea then headed back to room 'I'. I swear that the colema ladies were up to something as my bucket would have had at least 16 litres in it so I emptied two out before getting started and praying for the best.

This time I hadn't connected all the tubes up properly which wasted some time but was secretly thankful for that little bit less liquid now available. A deep breath and turned it on. As always cramps started within the first 2 litres but this time it was back to the bad pains. I had a towel in my mouth so no one could hear my pain. It got a little better but as per the first one I seemed to cramp every 2 litres. There were 3 litres left and I thought, nope this isn't right and I'm not going to force myself so finished early had a shower and went and lay down. An hour later the cramps were still there but more like sore muscles now.

I built up some energy, tired, dizzy and headed over to the wellness centre for my much needed vege broth. After a few sips I felt ill and hot, I took a break and felt much better, finished it off followed by a tea and a shot of Acai Berry which was delicious (desert almost). I am going to miss my night shake again but still take the probiotic before sleep.

The resort has live music around the pool tonight so I am going to rest for a bit and then head over there with my insect repellent.

Another beautiful day in Thailand

Day 3 - first day of fasting

Before I get to the days events, let it be known that the annoying evil frog reappeared at 2am this morning. The pillow over my head certainly did not block out his bellows so I bravely got up and decided I would put the hose to work on my own. Sure enough there he was and I am sure it was the same frog. After some very impressive aiming I managed to guide him out of the catchment and far far away. I also took to throwing rocks in his general direction in the hope that it would shoo him further down the path. Relief and back to bed, I believe I may have heard one more bellow around 5am although I either slept through it or it was just the one. So far tonight let me report that there has not been a sound as yet. Fingers crossed!

So today, where do I even start. 7am headed over to the wellness centre for my first shake which is made up of two different types of clays and Psyllium husks. It is disgusting and if you don't drink it quickly it goes to clay. This is followed by a honey and apple cider tea which I think may in fact be a highlight in the day.

There were two new people also starting today, Hendrick from Sweden and Elisa from Singapore. I am on the easiest (if that is possible) program called power cleanse while Elisa is on the Master program and Hendrick on the Ultra. After some introductions we commence our morning ritual, this time it is a walk around a lake followed by a swim, sit or walk at the local beach.

The beach was lovely and although I didn't go for a swim I did paddle and couldn't believe how warm the water was. There were lots of stray dogs on the beach, one in particular I found extra sweet. He must had felt the same as she came and sat near me for a snooze.

Back on site we are given our bag of supplements. Now this is like a drug store. I am given 4 pouches of 8 tablets and 1 probiotic. Don't ask me what each of the tablets are as I can't remember but they are all there for a reason to flush these toxins out. I've made a note to get more info and once I do will post it on here.

I took the first 8 capsules followed by a hot of zeolite and started to drink my cloudy bottle of water (which I have since found out is called coloidal silver).

Blood pressure reading was much better today at 104/82 and assume that the improvement was from my cold getting a little better and a good night sleep. Weight came in at 64.1kg and heading in the right direction.

Orientation with Michael was next up, he is the owner of the wellness centre and is an incredibly nice guy. I feel very comfortable talking to him and he appears to be very knowledgeable. We all have our second shake and cider for the day. He then takes us up to the colema rooms. I have been assigned room 'I' and we are told that no one else uses your room during our stay. He then shows us how everything works and we are left to our own devices.

Now to be honest I was actually really looking forward to this as it excited me to think that all that gunk stored over the years will be flushed out. Everyone on site had said they aren't really that bad and very easy to administer. So here I was with my 14 litre bucket of warm coffee water (32 degrees to be exact), a tip and a pipe. Now this is where it may get a little gross so for those not wanting to know any details skip this part.

Once inserted you press a valve which releases the liquid which you leave on till you feel some pressure, this is only a few seconds and you just feel very bloated. Once off you relax and let it pass, you are to repeat this process until the whole 14 litres has been flushed through you which takes about 45 minutes. Now that all sounds easy right? Well within minutes I started to have craps. I'm not talking about a little cramp I am talking about some of the worst cramps imaginable and could only say it would be like childbirth. I had tears in my eyes, I was gripping whatever I could, and I was swearing inbetween deep breaths. I wanted to get up and walk away but felt that this would all be a waste and to stick with it. Once the cramps had subsided I looked up at the bucket to see that it was still pretty much on 14 litres. My lord is all I could think. This repeated over and over and still only at 12 litres, I really wasn't sure how I was going to make it through the whole lot.

I found that the cramps got less for a few litres only to resurface around the 8, 6 and 4 litre mark, yes there was some inbetween however these were the earthquake ones first experienced. Now the other problem here is that I don't drink caffeine so as my body started to absorb it I went into a sweet, I was shaking, everything was blury and at one stage I thought I was going to vomit. I got through all of this by telling myself that 'I could do it' and was pleases to see that the last few litres went by very quickly and the last litre stayed in the bucket!

Now of course once finished you have to have a look at what came out, it all looked pretty normal to me and don't worry I won't post a photo. Shaky and exhausted from using my muscles so much while cramping I had a shower and headed back to the wellness centre to find that I had take just over 2 hours! The other two had been back for some time and didn't have any discomfort. I decided that before my afternoon colema (yes there are two of these each day) I would speak to Michael that all was normal.

Taking 2 hours had put me well behind schedule so I had to shuffle a few things around and had my third shake and cider followed by a coconut juice. Now I expected this to be from a bottle but Pookie got a fresh coconut and cut the top open, placed a straw in it and handed it to me. If only it was full of tequila sunrise or equivalent. I head back to my room to rest and let everything subside and I feel terrible. I'm only in my room for 10 minutes when Pookie telephones to say that it is time for the Ultrazonic Zapper. It had been written on my schedule incorrectly and I had to build up the energy and off I went.

They placed the zapper on my stomach, turned it on and Elisa and I watched a video explaining exactly what was happening and how it worked. It sends frequencies to your blood and if what is shown on the screen actually happens it is truly amazing. There apparently have been scientific studies carried out on cancer and tumor patience with amazing results. It is also meant to have excellent results on treating sists on ovaries. This practice is something else I think worth reading up on. This process took 50 minutes by which time I was busting to go to the loo from drinking all this water, tea etc and I quickly took my next lot of 8 supplements.

Massage time 2pm. This time I opted for a Thai massage and was very happy with it although yesterday's remains the best. Once out of the massage I headed back to the room for some much needed relaxing and watched a DVD.

4.15pm I had my next shake and cider, Michael was in the kitchen so I asked him about my cramping experience. He said that it was all completely normal that everyone's body deals with things differently and that the cramps were either caused by gas or parasites being flushed out of their homes. If it is parasites I may even get to see see them flush out in the toilet at a later date. We also spoke about the effects of the coffee and he advised the next one was going to be a garlic colema. I mentally told myself to stick with it as I was promised it will get better.

4.45pm headed to the steam room for 40 minutes before the dreaded colema. Before starting I took my forth lot of supplements (8 more tablets) and entered room I. There it was looking at me, 14 litres of (this time) clear liquid. I started the process with high hopes that the worst was gone but was beaten down with a stick almost instantly. Honestly I can't even tell you which was worse, this time or the last but the cramping did subside quicker this time around and I managed to complete the entire process with only a few tears and swearwords in 1 hour 15 minutes. This time no such effects like that with the coffee.

Off to the wellness centre for some dinner. Yep it is what everyone has said that you most look forward to, vegetable broth. How it is made is local vegies are boiled for 2 hours then discarded, you are left with a clear liquid which you can then add to your tasting lime, turmeric, raw ginger, raw garlic, special salt and coriander. I had the whole lot and sat down to enjoy it and had a chat with Bruce about his day as he looked very tired and unwell.

Elise was sitting opposite and within minutes was throwing up and I'm talking about litres of liquid. At this point I was thankful that I had gotten through my first day and the only thing I was feeling was like someone had literally punched me in the colon. Finished my soup, had a tea and naughtily skipped my last shake for the day headed back to my room had my probiotic, wrote this and now 8.22pm I am ready for sleep after a very very busy and exhausting day.

Day 2 - Pre Cleanse afternoon

So today has certainly been interesting and I think I have now grasped how everything works and where everything is although I still have my formal orientation tomorrow.

Starting where I left off the green smoothie was drinkable it was a mixture of apple, lettuce, celery, kiwifruit and whatever other green things you can think of blended with water.

I headed back to the room to watch some tv and relax before lunch only to discover that the whole hotel was having the electricity cut off for an hour. I took advantage of the now sunny weather and headed to the pool. I burn far too easily so took it easy with a 20 min swim and a 10 minute lay in the sun.

Before I knew it 12pm which meant lunch. Pookie had said she was going to make me her favorite meal and to her credit it was delicious. It was made up of sliced carrots, capsicum, onion, garlic, cashew nuts served in a bed of lettuce with a apple vinegar dressing. The raw garlic was definitely something that I knew I would continue to taste for the next 12 hours but again thinking positively it was all going to help get rid of my cold.

Once I polished that off I headed back to the room for a nap and although extremely tired I couldn't fall asleep. I was back over to the wellness at 3pm for my second green smoothie for the day.

It was 4pm in no time which meant massage time! I have to admit that it was the best massage that I think I have ever had. Feeling great I headed to the steam room which is open for two hours each night and cleaned my sinuses out for 20 minutes.

Dinner was served just after 6.30pm and everyone at the wellness centre was telling me to enjoy it as this would be my last solid food until next Thursday. Dinner was a mix of apple, mushrooms, carrots and again was really tasty, something you would never think of doing back at home. While eating I talked with Anna who is on day 8 of 9 and Bruce on day 9 of 14. They were both telling me their horror stories.

Anna said that she crashed on day 3, vomiting so much that she couldn't leave the room and had people cleaning up after her for a whole day. Bruce said that he didn't actually vomit but got close and added that you get use to never trusting a fart. The colemas seem to be a hot topic of discussion with sly jokes about people not being full of shit any more. My first colema is tomorrow at 10am so for those of you whom don't like to talk about poo I suggest you switch off for a while.

I sort of can't help but think what have I got myself in for but at the same time excited to reap the positive rewards from it at the end. After dinner I could hear the strange noise again and after some investigation found it to be a frog which was in a pipe just outside by front door. As it was making it's noise it was echoing and vibrating. I couldn't stand another sleepless night so headed over to the reception desk and asked if they could do something about it and if not suggest that I change rooms.

A young Thai boy was sent to investigate and I could see he wasn't really sure what he should be doing so I suggested he gets the hose and forces it out. There were three pipes leading into a pit all of which he force the hose down until the evil frog fell from the downpipe. At this point I bolted about 10 meters away while he, without a care in the world, leaned down picked it up and walked off with it. Lets hope that is the end and a good night sleep is had.

Final probiotic at 8pm and rest for an hour with suggested sleep time of 9pm read for an even bigger day tomorrow. No food .... am I crazy?

Day 2 - Pre Cleanse

It rained all night and I found myself waking up every hour or so to the most strangest noise outside. It sounded like a cow with an accordion every few minutes, It would finally stop only to restart again. At 6am I gave in and got up.

7am I headed over to the wellness centre where I met some of the other people detoxing. Most were on their sixth or seventh day and three being on their last day and leaving tomorrow. All provided the same feedback, stick with it, there are good days and bad days and don't be afraid to nap when exhausted.... reality check that this is not a holiday!

I was greeted by Pookie, a lovely Thai lady who quickly got me set up with a bag full of goodies. I had decided before arriving to complete one day pre cleanse, seven day power cleanse and one day post cleanse. I pulled out my schedule and was put right to work.

First was a honey and apple cider vinegar drink which I was worried to drink although it actually tasted quite nice. Then we all headed down to the beach for the morning ritual (Yoga). It was a beautiful spot with the waves crashing on the beach only a few meters away. I was thankful for all the yoga I had done previously and was able to master most of the moves although that did not stop me from working up a sweat.

After yoga we all participated in 'the circle' where we sat around and talked about how yesterday was, what we wanted to achieve today and drew a card from a fairy pack while sipping on more tea. I drew the 'parenting and children' card which was about families and having good relationships with them, it also could indicate new arrivals into the family by marriage or birth and thought about my new nephew and step nephew due in a few months.

Afterward we headed back to the wellness centre where I was given a shot of zeolite together with a cloudy bottle of water which had something put in it for blood flow. My blood pressure was taken at 130/70 which I was surprised about as I have always had good blood pressure but have put that down to having a cold. I weighed in at 64.9kg and clearly had enjoyed my food and beer while Dave was here a little too much!

In only 3 hours I don't think I have ever drank so much liquid in my life resulting in needing to go to the toilet far more regularly than normal.

10am it is now time to head back to the wellness centre for a green smoothie.

Day 1 - To be inserted

So for some reason the tumblr.com website has been down all day so I have decided to set this up instead. Once it is up working again I will repost my first day.... until then I will continue on....
